Working on historic homes in the Ladd's Addition neighborhood in Portland, Oregon can be a daunting task. The goal for the home was to bring back some of the character that had been stripped away by adding built ins that looked like they had always been there and vintage finds to revitalize the space. Prioritizing handmade craftsmanship, soft textures and a restrained but consistent color palette honored the home while elevating it to today's design standards. Classic wallpaper in the dining room paired with a custom dining table that will be an heirloom piece for years to come and a more modern silhouette for the leather dining chairs refreshed a tired space. The addition of the entryway built in and - a to the smallest detail - matched bookshelf to the right of the newly plastered fireplace brought much needed symmetry and storage. Everything came together to create a space that felt both new and old, refreshed and lived in.
